Wheel Fever - Let's Rawk!

Blistering Tyres

There is probably only one thing I really loathe about washing your car. Its that you get so up close and personal with it that you notice all the imperfections with it. The small dings and scratches that accumulate over time, most of which are natural in the life of any car.

Anyway, washing my car yesterday, I noticed two of my tyres had blisters on them. What are blisters? Well here they are on my car

My Blistered Tyres

Now doing an online search there wasn't much to be found, but from what I read and the questions I have been asking on various forums it seems that the inside cords are delaminating. All things equal, the blister represents a weaker part of the tyre and is more susceptible to blowing out under high speeds or high pressure situations. WIth that in mind i quickly rang up a few people and arranged to have some temporary rims and tyres for awhile. Right now my car has the whole 'drift look' going with the mismatched front and rear wheels =P

Petrol Theives!!

This put a smile on my face when I first heard about it, it sort of reminds me of Robin Hood robbing from the rich and giving it to the poor. Although we don't exactly know what the petrol theives are doing with the stolen petrol, I am amazed that they pulled something like this off. 15,000 litres isnt easy to hide and getaway with.

Anyway, here's the original article. Click Here

Autosalon Magazine Issue 45

Autosalon
(Source: Autosalon.org)"]
Autosalon Magazine Issue 45 came out on stands last week and what an issue! Ok, this isnt a blatant advert for Autosalon Magazine, the reason that I am excited is because my car is in the magazine! Haha no I am not going to reveal my car to my readers (shush those that know!) but there certainly is going to be hints. It is somewhere on page 74 of the magazine! Heh at least it narrows it down a little bit

Ecowash Waterless Car Wash: Yay or Nay?

With the weather brightening up and the rain looking like it has gone under the covers for a little while longer I thought about washing my car today. However with all the mandatory water restrictions in place this is uaually a hard task. Being a public holiday I didnt think it was appropriate that I wash my own car. After all...my public holiday is for rest! So I jumped on the internet and found the EcoWash website.

Driving Tips for Wet Weather

With the glorious downpour that Sydney is now receiving I thought I should write up an article on safety tips for driving on wet roads. Essentially, wet roads are dangerous because they reduce the amount of friction between your car's wheels and the road, which means that you can slip and slide around the road a bit more.

Tyre

Krispy Kreme's and Harry's Café De Wheels

No readers, you havent stumbled across the Recipe's or food blog's, this is indeed still Wheel Fever.

Krispy Kreme's and Harry's Café De Wheels are as much of car culture as well...cars are! Why is this you ask? Because these two food outlets are open till stupid hours of the morning, much like the car enthusiasts that yearn for things to do at stupid hours of the night! We car fanatics, are a nocturnal bunch, going out when the skies are dark and there is a chill in the air.

How to Cut Fuel Bills

In contrast to the small gains from using a premium unleaded petrol, the average motorist can reduce their fuel bills by at least 10% (and possibly up to 25%), regardless of what car they drive or what fuel they use. This can be achieved by following these 10 simple tips*:
Accelerate gently – it’s a fact, aggressive driving increases petrol consumption
Flow smoothly with the traffic – this relates back to the first point!

The Do's and Don'ts of Washing Cars

I recently attended a detailing day. No, I didn’t pay someone to detail my car. I paid someone to teach me how to detail my car. I got taught how to use certain products and common mistake people do while washing their cars. I’ve broken it down into simple DO’s and DON’Ts of washing cars.

DO: Wash your wheels first, with different sponges! Your wheels pick up all sorts of crap your car doesn’t, as a result, it is probably one of the most dirtiest part of your car. You don’t want to damage your paint with all the dirt, brake dust, and tar that your wheels pick up
