This could be Giancarlo Fisichella’s last opportunity to shine in Formula One.
It was some what of a surprise when the Renault Formula One team retained Giancarlo Fisichella on as one of their two drivers for the season of 2007 which is now only a few months away from starting.
This could be Giancarlo Fisichella’s last opportunity to shine in Formula One.
Yet maybe with their World Champion driver Fernando Alonso leaving for the Vodafone Mercedes McLaren team and bring in F1 newcomer Heikki Kovalainen from Finland keeping Giancarlo Fisichella on the teams books for another year keeps some sort of continuity while things settle down.

Giancarlo Fisichella is a likable driver, he has many friends around the paddock and even on the race track has never really shown the killer instinct that we have seen with Michael Schumacher, which of course makes the difference between winners and losers, Giancarlo Fisichella won only one Grand Prix last season, and it is generally considered that he will need to up his game a lot in order to compete with the likes of Alonsa, Raďkkönen and Massa who are younger and have their careers ahead of them. Giancarlo Fisichella who is now 33 years old will start on the grid in March 2007, will he be sitting there in 2008?
