Wheel Fever - Let's Rawk!

Ecowash Waterless Car Wash: Yay or Nay?

With the weather brightening up and the rain looking like it has gone under the covers for a little while longer I thought about washing my car today. However with all the mandatory water restrictions in place this is uaually a hard task. Being a public holiday I didnt think it was appropriate that I wash my own car. After all...my public holiday is for rest! So I jumped on the internet and found the EcoWash website.

They claim to be a waterless car wash and polish...without scratching your car! "Yeh right" was my first thought, quickly followed by a "how the hell!??!!"

Anyway browsing some more i found their basic wash and polish service to be a fair $35.00, and they come to your door! Perfect for this public holiday I thought. I rang them up and quickly booked an appointment.

They came around in a bright little orange Sonata that you couldnt miss. Two boys jumped out of the car and dragged out all the little bottles and chamois with them. As they got to work on my car I drilled them with all the questions running through my head. How does it work? How effective is it? and so on.
Basically the solution they spray on acts like a lubricant and is so effective, that it whisks away all the dirt and dust without scratching your paint. THe second spray is a polish which creates a barrier like surface that makes dirt harder to stick on and makes it easier to clean - a teflon like surface.

Half an hour later they were all done, also giving me a complimentary car shampoo which was great! I took the car out and put it in the sun (best way to examine paint jobs) and i must say it was a pretty damn good job! I was surprised, and no scratches too! Bear in mind my car wasnt exactly filthy either but still a good regular clean.

Conclusion: Good service that does what it promises. Most effective if your car is moderately dirty. If your car is really filthy, then nothing beats a high pressure water hose and suds!

I love the idea of a waterless wash.... a great idea in Sydney, and $35 is pretty good for at-home service...

Yep! For a quick wash and polish, i think its great! Although a big problem they must overcome is the whole stigma of waterless car washing and how it causes scratches.

I thought it was a no go until they did my 4WD that had just come in off the beaten track. No scratches, no water, bright shine and looked good and best of all, saved water.

I'm very concious of the environment and this idea sounds great. I got a eco wash and it was fabulous. There was 1 inch thick mud on the paint from the interstate trip that I went on and Ecowash came and sprayed this chemical on the mud, and the mud just sort of came off. Really incredible. We're talking about 1 inch thick mud that is stuck on the car.

All the insects were cleared as well. I was really suprised, I mean my 4wd was covered in dirt and they cleaned and polished it without using any water.

I'm still very amazed you have to give them a call. Ecowash, call them now. Pick up the phone and make your booking
