1000 new cars every day in Beijing.
Every single day around 1000 new cars are added to the roads of Beijing, China! It is true that the country of China is huge place, there is no denying that fact, yet the populated areas such as the cities and large towns are the domains of the new rich people and those who are now able to afford to buy cars, whereas in the past they and their families struggled to survive. This change is of course good for those people, after all nobody wants anybody to live in poverty or bad conditions, so good luck to those who have made it.
The long term prospects for China and its people are remarkable, they are sort of in the ascendancy, the same as we in the west were in the 70's and 80's, so we cannot complain about their indulgences, yet we should worry, simply on the pollution and fuel issues, there will come a point when there are more and more cars in China, which will be using up fuel and creating pollution, the future still looks despite all the talk of climate control, that we as a planet will be creating pollution and using up the fuel reserves for years to come, that is until the fuel runs out!!
